How To : Split Wordpress XML database file into small sizes

Posted by | Posted in How To | Posted on 14-08-2008

Alright, here is the thing, you got your blog that already running for years in one hosting and suddenly you want to move it all to another hosting or what ever you want to do… but the file that can be uploaded into the wordpress database is only 2mb?

Here is the way to do it :

1. open your xml file.

2. copy every code from the beginning until before the < item > .
(You need to put this code into each and every one of the split file header.)

3. copy all codes inside < item > starting from the bracket itself. Finish it with the < /item > code. This code are the one you can put in other split file. Meaning each split file has different <item> </item> codes inside it.

4. make sure tu put < /channel > < /rss > into each split file at the end.

I’ve managed to split my file this way but lost the last posting in my blog. I dunno what’s wrong there. But it seems working fine for all my previous post.

try it at your own risk.

Find this tips useful? how about some small donation…thanks.
